Since 2001 we have been working on site in Lithuania developing a program of activities aimed at improving the economic position of small scale farmers. Our work is carried out at the Auksuciai Farm & Forest Center (a Lithuanian nonprofit organization) located in Northern Lithuania near the town of Kursenai. Here the Center operates a 157 hectare (389 acre) farm and conducts a year around program of research on new crops, improvement of existing crops and improved farming practices.

We would like to begin periodically sending news on our progress. Your Chapter could help significantly by passing this information on to your members.

Our term on the SF Lithuanian/American Community board has nearly come to an end. Every two years we vote on a new Board at the Lithuanian Independence Day celebration. If you are interested in being an officer or member of the board please contact us. SF Lithuanian American organization keeps in contact with the National organization. We also plan four events during the course of the year: Independence Day Celebration, Fall Ball, Christmas Eve Feast and the Baltic Picnic. On occasion we help with the organizing of other events such as President Adamkus' visit to the Bay Area, the Zalgiris/Warrior game and artists performances.
