Mokslo metų pradžia kartu su bendruomene

Aida Sakalauskaite

Šeštadienines Mokyklos Genys Tėvų Komiteto Pirmininkė, Vokiečių kalbos asė, 3 vaikų mama

Mielieji,
Rodos vieni be kitų net negalėtume egzistuoti.

Be tėvų ir bendruomenės įnašo, mes nesugebėtume išsilaikyti.

Laukiam!!!

Dear all,
It is very important to a human being to be among people rather than alone; to be a part of any community, wherever s/he lives. It is a natural necessity to communicate with others, therefore I am very happy, that several years ago our San Francisco Lithuanian community reconnected with its past and resumed its activities, which led to opening of San Francisco Lithuanian School “Genys” and strengthening its existence. Our school “Genys” is a very big part of the Bay Area Lithuanian community. We work hand in hand!

As of this time, I am a PTA president at our school and with the principal Virgilija Tali we work together to ensure the prosperity of our school and the well being of our children. It is hard to believe that we already had our first graduates and every year more than 10 kids enroll in Kindergarten class. It is important to them not just be a part of our school, but to be a part of our extended Lithuanian community!

Our rental cost for school premises is our main expense. Unfortunately, being where we are in the Bay Area, the cost increases steeply every year. Without the help from our school parents and our community we wold not be able to survive. Therefore I want to encourage all of you to come to the first event of the season, “Cepelinai balius”, organized together by our school andour San Francisco Lithuanian community, and support our community’s initiative not only to raise funds for our school, but more importantly to raise funds for our whole community! I actively participate during community board meetings (anybody is welcome, just let us know!) and I see how much dedication, effort and heart is being put into organizing, coordinating each event, as well as satisfying the needs of our, although small, but nevertheless powerful and absolutely wonderful community.

It is hard to plan the future, but I am happy to be a part of this beautiful present, therefore I want to encourage you all one more time to come to a fun and very delicious evening together on September 25th, 4PM!

San Francisco Lithuanian American Community's Fundraising Strategy 2016

The San Francisco Lithuanian chapter has been active since 1950. Generations later we stayed true to our mission to connect the Bay Area’s Lithuanians, preserve our precious language and unique heritage.

As you know, San Francisco Lithuanian Chapter is a community funded, volunteer driven, non-profit organization.

Our annual budget runs around $20,000, which includes community events, sponsoring Saturday School, supporting our parent organization American Lithuanians and contributing to various Lithuanian causes.

We would like to do more. We constantly hear requests for more events. We have increasing costs such as Saturday School rent which we would like to help cover.

In order to fulfill these goals, we are getting more organized and are plan to do things differently this year. Here is our plan:

Together with Saturday School Genys, we set out an ambitious goal to raise $10,000 during the month of October, 2016. Here is how we are going to do it:

  • We will have a fundraising event throughout October (No more nario mokestis, etc).

  • Half of the funds will go directly to support Saturday School Genys.

  • No markup will be added to any event tickets.

To our knowledge there are around 400 active members in our community. If everyone contributed on average of $25, we would be done today but we know not everybody can. Pick the option that suits you.

CEPELINU BALIUS | September 25th | Get tickets

To kick things of, we’d like to invite you to the Fundraiser Kickoff event Cepelinu Balius on September 25th, where we will be glad to meet you, discuss our future and take your feedback.

p.s. All donations are tax deductible (Federal Tax #36-3625439).
